A careful detailed design process led the dramatic transformation of a previous waste dump area of the city of Logroño, into and spectacular golf course and city park. Close collaboration and well done work of Javier Martinez La Orden, lead architect of the City Hall of Logroño worked with Stirling & Martin and made it possible a model of a public golf course and well master planned City Park.
Characterized by a “Scottish Style”, the golf course is lined by long, wild dry grasses in the far rough. The golf course sits in the Park of La Grajera, which offers a unique and natural experience for the golfers. There is no housing. The golf course plays long. It is one of the top five longest in Spain and fully integrated in the natural topography and features of the area. It is a tough, but enjoyable golf course with tremendous variety. A complementary par 3, nine hole course gives the players a place to practice the short game. The complex offer 27 holes and a large driving range.
La Rioja region is now known for its great wines and a superior golf course, by Stirling & Martin.
