Of only 244 people, Grajera is mostly a farmer and agricultural town in the province of Segovia. Still I remember on our first visit to the site, we saw a couple of very old local people, playing golf in “las eras”, just with one of two clubs.
In 2002, the mayor of the town, Juan Manuel Barrio, called Stirling & Martin as golf architects to design a 9 hole golf course to satisfy the emerging golf interest, and also to promote alternative economy for the town. Ten years after, Grajera without losing traditional farming activities has become a great second home area in town full of multi adventure activities. Golf, has been the key element of the positive transformation of the economy of the town.
The golf course is a gentle 9 holes. It is a fun course that plays almost 3.000 m length par 35. In future years it is expected to be increased to a complete 18 hole regulation golf course.
